Cook Children's - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
I came across a video that shows what Neonatal Nursing is really all about. It talks about how miracles always happen at work, small miracles such as babies that weigh one pound and are still alive. What I really liked about this video is that they explain how honesty with the patient's parents really helps build a strong bond. With this strong bond and honesty the patient's parents will take more comfort in trusting the nurse to do anything she could to provide the best needs for their child. The video describes how honesty and loyalty are key. If the parents and nurses can be honest
with each other about everything, it will make the experience of the NICU easier and more comfortable. I also think that it made a connection to my working EQ because it is key point to making sure a baby is and stays healthy.

Blog 5 : Mentorship Reflection
1. Describe your experience in how you found your
mentorship? If you haven't found one yet, describe your experience so far
in the search of a mentor.
I was able to get a Registered Nurse as my new mentor, her name is Diana Guevara she works at the LAC+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. Diana has been really helpful and knowledgeable, she is helping me contact Neonatal Nurses that work with her so they can be my possible mentors as well.
2. What has been your most important article you have read so
far and why?
The most important article that I have read so far would have to be "A Primer on Preemies" because it has a lot of detailed information on why premature birth is caused. It also has the different type of basic needs a premature baby may need. It has information on why nutrition and growth is important in premature babies. The article also provides the different common health problems that a premature baby may face.
